Title: An old friend back.
Post by: greyhunter on December 01, 2016, 03:43:10 PM
About four years ago, I sold an Investment Arms .50 cal flint lock Hawken.  Helping someone out new to the game, I must have had too many other rifles in the locker at the time. Happy to say I have the rifle back after a two year wait, by trading another rifle to get it back. As it was rarely used  and in storage , I was expecting a lot of bore rust. After a quick swabbing and relubing the lock works, and bore, it looks like it is good. Have to wait until rifle deer season is over before I get to shoot it again, hoping to use it in the Pa. flintlock season after Christmas. You seldom get a rifle back, esp. a good one, and this has great sights on it and a fine stock. Have to see if I have a picture of it in my gallery.  :hairy

One of the few regrets I have in life was selling a pair of TC rifles when I was young. But just married and had other responsibilities. I do think of them
Glad to hear it came back home to you

It is the Cabelas Hawken, half stock, brass fittings and patch box, adjustable rear sight, double set triggers. I believe 1:60/66 twist. It shot well when I first had it, time will tell if it is still good.

Well, that's pretty cool to be reunited with on old friend.

Sure wish I had a couple of my old friends back in my life.  They would be keepers forever.  But the odds of that happening pretty much rank up with pigs flying and such.

I almost bought one years back, because it came in a LH version. Cabelas always adds a few items to a gun like the patch box and then charges more. I believe they both have brass though. Investment Arms sells one with their name on it. Not sure if it differs any. They're all based on the Trade Rifle, or whatever they call them.

No matter, it's a solid gun. Congrats on getting it back.
