487# holy schnikies that's a fat pooh bear.
I've never intentionally went bear hunting , only saw one once while out in the woods.
Nice that you can just walk down and check them out.

I almost went to get my bear license last evening. But I've gone several years with the smokepole, and was unsuccessful. The owner of the property I was hunting on, gets trail camera pictures of bear all year until about the 1st of Nov., then they seem to disappear. Around here, your chances of getting one hunting by yourself is slim to none. Your odds are much better hunting with a gang. With my hunting track record, I'll just go to see the bear others have killed.

You got me kinda excited there, my friend.
At First, before I read your message, I thought that was something you had gotten.
Oh well, no bear fat pies this Thanksgiving.

PA bear season came in today. My wife and I live within walking distance of a bear check station. So we walked down this afternoon to see how things were going. We left at 3 pm with 3 bear being brought in. After we left, an additional 9 more were brought in. Now we're up to 12. Here's one that was hanging to be weighed. Heaviest one today was 487. See, that's the difference.
Most people are doing it as a hobby and a pleasant pastime.
I was doing it to put gas in my snowmobiles and various mods on them and all my trips with them.   Also black powder and caps and ball and patches in my guns.  And an occasional new powder horn for myself.  Plus there was a certain profit thought for the business.
Big difference.
Big difference in one's attitude and an even bigger difference in the equipment and techniques.
