Just got a new sgian dubh/boot/patch knife.

Believe it or not it is an Old Hickory ( Old Hickory Fish & Game Outdoor Field Knife (4.0 Inch ) + Leather Sheath & was only $28.00.

Over all size = 8.70"
Blade size    = 4"
Handle size  = 4.70"

& it is sharp.

Some of the sharpest knives I've owned are Old Hickory! That's a keeper!

That's right nice!  I got their larger knife a while back, also carbon steel and has a good edge.  5.5" blade which is longer than I really wanted.  I would have gotten what you have if I had known it was out there!

I took a file to the spine to make it less of a "butcher" shape:

Thank you both for the kind words!

I'll tell you what, that thing takes a scary sharp edge!  Plus, it's made in the USA, although the sheath comes from the big Communist country to the West of us, but it seems to be pretty decent.  I doubt if you can beat it for the price.

Yes Sir, and they STAY sharp! My entire game butchering kit is made up of old HI Carbon knives from the 2 handed LF&C Universal cleaver, to my old Green River skinning knife and various blades in between!, that 2 handed cleave comes in handy for quartering an Elk!
