POWDER HORN FROM LEFTOVERS
« on: August 05, 2020, 10:32:14 AM »
Reposting old threads that were lost after the forum cleanup from broken threads or lost pics from photobucket, here's an early build from 10 or so years ago. Maybe some one can use it as a reference or  ideas for their own build! This one was cobbled together from leftover pieces and parts from oops projects, makes a great day or pistol horn, now resides with Longhunter aka Ron LaClair

The man thinks the same way I do; re-purpose, don't throw anything away and make something you can use.

Now that looks very nice!  I did that years ago by taking a damaged, old large powder horn, shortening it and making it into a smaller "day horn".  Never let anything go to waste; that's my motto.

I've got one done that way. I'll try to get some pics posted of it.

I got to say I am really enjoying this series. This horn is truly as cute as a speckled pup. And I think it is fun that you use what ya have...."waste not, want not."

I have recently saved myself close to $100 on shooting accessories like loading blocks, powder measures and ball starters for two rifles using scrape laying around the shop collecting dust and a little imagination. (See my Thread under Accoutrements' titled 'Home Made Shooting Accoutrements')

It sure feels good using something you made (custom) for you instead of buying something made by someone else for someone else.
