Following a 13 day siege from Feb. 23rd to March 6th approximately 4,000 Mexican soldiers led by General Antonio Lopez Santa Anna surrounded something in the order of 182-257 brave men defending the Alamo. The men were led by William B. Travis, Texas Ranger James Bowie and former Tennessee Congressman David Crockett. On morning of March 6th they made an all out charge on the defenders. Most all were killed the few remaining were executed by order of Santa Anna. Some women and children were allowed to leave. Later in March Col. James Fannin and 300 Texans were surrounded by General Jose Urrea near Goliad. After two days of fighting and defending his position Fannin surrendered. Counter to promises of clemency for the Texans they were all executed on March 27th on the order of Santa Anna.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo. With all that is going on right now in the world tomorrow we should all stand up and shout
"Remember the Alamo and Remember Goliad"!
