186th Anniversary of Texas Military
« on: December 11, 2008, 10:49:51 AM »
From Col. Alan Huffines on the Republic of Texas Living History List

Today, 11 DEC 2008, is the 186th anniversary of the creation of Texas Military Forces. In 1822 Austin was authorized (Trespalacios via Baron de Bastrop) by the Republic of Mexico to raise a militia. Few nations have produced such men.

(Col. Huffines is the author of several Texas military history books, and is currently deployed in Iraq.)
