Home brew!
« on: January 13, 2025, 06:13:28 PM »
Started a batch of strawberry mead and strawberry wine.. I try to take a bottle of home brew to put on the club's auction blanket every year..  My first go at strawberry so we will see how I do.. I'll get a gallon or 2 of elderberry /currant going before long too.

Momma whipped up a couple batches of strawberry jam and a batch of elderberry/plum jelly..
With that and the sourdough she's been cranking out I should be butchering weight before long!

Ive gotta get back to visit my folks in Missouri this summer to restock on the clear stuff.. That's how I bribe my way into places to hunt lol

Bottled it all up today. Tastes and looks pretty good, the wine batch definitely got a little more acidic and dry than I hoped, so I did some back sweeten and hope to save it.. the mead is grade A.

Mead = essentially fermented honey, the "wine" or "beer" of the middle ages.

Gotcha Rob. I thought it might be a drink, that could cause someone to become 3 sheets to the wind, now I know. :P
