Remember Fella's,this was made for mass distribution,not a doctorial thesis. The folk's fronting the money for this ARE NOT HISTORIANS! How many skinners were made from Brian Keith's T/C Flinter and Charelton Heston's Caplock? I know I was one!

 Take it for what it is,a good effort worthy of our watching and maybe light a fire to do more research and join in on the fun! We need MORE program's like this!!! I found it VERY enjoyable. Wish I was in it!



Ps,When a bunch of us went to the opening of Last of the Mohecain's, and a group of re-enactors actually walked out saying this movie was Bulls*** because in the opening sequince,there were Trillium's in the foreground as Hawkeye was chasing the Elk,and there were no Trillium's in that part of the country at that time!!! Really? That's what you saw?

I was a little surprised at how much was wrong with that movie. I heard that the AMM helped with that movie. The movie makers must not have listened to them.

Bottom line for me is I enjoy all mountain man stuff. Even if it's a bit off from reality. We don't get enough of it to be too picky.

movies are fun . but we shouldn’t forget that , that is what they are made for .
myself i enjoyed both  as well as  many others like Winter hawk ,Wind walker, Grey Eagle . Man of the Mountain . broken chain , Tecumseh, Black Robe ...... just to name a few

 funny t hat you mention that . i have yet to  see one of those folks mention that   Huron wasn’t being spoken by  Wes Studi  or any of the other  native actors .
Heron and Mohican are lost languages . Very few folks picked up on that .
 Wes Studi was speaking Tsalagi (Cherokee) and  Mike Philips (Huron Sachem) was speaking Delaware .
 Both  languages are   linguistically related to Huron and Mohican. But not the same .
 As such , most folks never noticed that during the Huron camp seen  two different languages were being spoke .

 While that does bring up issue for the historically correct . Those same folks lose the context that this was a story , a movie , designed to entertain and spur interest.
IMO it did that very well

The one thing I always get a laugh out of in the movie was the scene when Hugh Glass was crawling away and you could see the cartridge loops in his belt ..circa 1820 as I recall.Overall like most it was interesting of not taken as a documentary

         Thanks for the link. I enjoyed it.I think I saw that awhile back on the History
Channel.I enjoy stories like these P/C or not. One thing I am sure of, I know
the background for the movie 'A MAN CALLED HORSE',came from.Another
movie I enjoyed despite all it's mistakes in presentation.
        I think your video was meant to show the hardships of the Mountain men.
I think that was accomplished.IMO

I like em all! There is enough inspiration in LOM, MM,JJ, and others to lauch aplenty young and old shooters. I overlook the errors and like Captchee and others have said enjoy them for their removing me from the present for a short time. I know I could take anyones place in JJ or the Mountain Men movies as I know all the lines "By the By, nice little fort you have here." Good movies The man called Horse series.

Yes, I just never heard of this flower and didn't know what you were talking about until I looked it up, thinking that you might be referring to somthing else.
