.44 Cal Kentucky Pistol

Does anyone shoot one of these?  (Not the revolver)

I've been researching ball size/patch thickness...Looks like I screwed up and bought a box of .440's.

Anyway, would be interested in hearing one's experience...thanks...

I've never owned, or even shot, a .44 muzzleloading pistol,... but a .45 cal pistol (or, rifle) uses the .440 - .445 balls with a pillow ticking patch.
So,.... I'm guessing your .44 pistol will need something close to a .430 size ball when using the same pillow ticking patch.

My three single shot pistols are all .44 caliber Pedersolis and they all take a .433 ball and .010" patch.

yep , Like Biliff , i shoot a 44. but i use a 430 ball  and a #10 patch . loads very easy and shoots  very well .

Thanks, you guys...I looked into it and see that the balls available for sale include .435, .433, .430, .429.  I'll have to check and see where to get patches, I know I have some .015, but probably need to get the .010 to try out.   Generally, I prefer a smaller ball with a patch having more cushion.

Turns out that I got one from a friend.  It takes .430 balls.  A 6" barrel flintlock pistol with
a somewhat 'Pirate' pistol type grip.  Have only shot it a few times - shoots fine but my Traditions
Parkers (.50 cal) are much better groupings.

OBTW - I use a .015 patch - but if I can find a .433 ball mold I think I would like the .010 patch.
I have found bigger ball / thinner patch to work better with most of my guns.

I also have a .45 rifle and pistol.  I would trade you the .440 balls and make you a box of .430.
I guess it would cost us each an additional $5.50 for the Flat Rate box to ship them   :(

Maybe you can trade them at a Rondy or such and avoid the shipping.
