I haven't seen the movie yet, waiting to get the video from the library.  But I did check out the book from the library and just finished reading it.  Now, I am waiting to see the movie, just to see what they did makeup wise on pretty boy Leonardo.  Should be interesting.
I think the best scene in the book is about 1/2 - 5/8 of the way through it where Major Henry's men decide to fire off the cannon to celebrate New Year's Eve.  Got a great laugh out of that.

I saw the movie and loved it although some didn't like it...women mostly....to violent.  :x  :x

I watched the movie and thought it was okay, though I would have preferred the "Lord Grizzly" book version. However, in this day and age I'll support just about any movie about the fur trade era if'n they want to make some more! :bl th up

I thought the movie was very good and the grizzly attack made my hair stand on end; it looked so real.  I wasn't bothered that liberties were taken with the truth; I mean, it was only a movie, after all.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.
