Where to store lead shot
« on: April 15, 2016, 05:01:53 PM »
I have several bags of lead shot. #5  #6  #71/2 some regular shot and copper coated. Just curious would you store shot in glass jars or just leave in canvas bags. Seems to me it would be a lot better stored in some type of container.
Just wondering what your thought is.  Thanks   Jerry

I leave my shot in their canvas bags and store them in an ammo box.  :rt th

Never gave storage a thought. I leave it in their canvas bags and store on a metal shelf in the basement along with 150# or so of cast balls.

I use repurposed plastic coffee "cans". They hold close to 25#'s or so of shot and are sort of air tight. YMMV.

I find that empty clothes detergent bottles work best. They have handles and pour spouts. Mark the contents on the outside and store wherever. The pour spout comes in really handy.

I keep mine in the cloth bags, but any unbreakable container will work, GLASS BREAKS! Do you know how much a damnzillion is? It is the number of #six shot in 20 lbs spilled on your shop floor!

Like several others I keep full bags in the bags and in sealed .50 cal
cans.  It will hold 2.  Yeah 50 lbs it a bit much - but nobody is gonna walk off quick with them  :Doh!

When ready to load up shells or ML spout bag I pour off enough to go then tie the bag back up.
