A "fantasy" flintlock Hawken
« on: January 24, 2017, 07:11:30 AM »
After seeing TMA forum member Hawken's lovely Watson full stock flint Hawken, late last year I commissioned gunmaker Tom Watson to build a half stock flintlock Hawken and now it's almost ready to ship to me for final staining and clear coating.  Chambers-Siler Late Ketland lock, Davis double set triggers, Rice radius rifling 36" barrel in .50 bore, Chambers white lightning touch hole liner, Pecatonnica maple stock, iron furniture.  More work still left, but essentially it's quite close to the "finish" line.  ;)

Nice.  I assume the barrel is not swamped?

That's gonna be a shooter!

I think it will be a good, handsome rifle.  And for what it's worth, I don't believe simple variations on a theme equals FANTASY.
