The Dickert Rifle At The Alamo

Hank in WV was kind enough to share this youtube video with me as he knows I like the Dickert Rifle's and have built a few (nowhere as nice as the originals) but I've always been an admirer of the Jacob Dickert. Here it is, and thank you Hank.

Joe, there ya go...your very own favorite rifle style being immortalized in the Museum at the Alamo.

For those who may not know, Joe Martin has been a fan of the Dickert Rifle for many years. In fact, the TMA's very first Bumper Sticker "supposedly" was an image of the Dickert Rifle, but after being digitalized for print it was hardly recognizable as a true Dickert.
   
It was nice seeing and reading that little story.

Yep, The fiddle music made for a very appropriate background for that video.

That, plus the fact that country folk in general could very well have fiddle in their DNA, I'm not positive about that statement, but I do have a strong suspicion there may be at least some truth in it, and I see that as a good thing.

You got that right! This is my GGG Grandfather that is buried 6 miles from where I'm sitting typing this. He 'jined' the Confederate Army and played the fiddle to a fair you well. Resigned from the musical boys and took up a rifle instead. Was wounded at Chickamauga and captured at the battle of Franklin Tennessee....signed a parole to not fight anymore and rode home to Alto, Louisiana and started his family. I come from his loins! I go down and talk with him quite often but he's rather 'tight-lipped' these days! We have an understanding however! So the fiddle is deeply embedded within my DNA!

That side plate surely must have given you goose bumps, Uncle Russ!  It looks quite similar to one I saw a photo of elsewhere!

Great video.  Nice looking rifle, especially having been passed around like that.  Obviously the folks who owned it, really appreciated it the rifle.
