CARRYING A CONCEALED PISTOL 1700s-1800s

The "concept" & NEED to carry concealed  far predates our "modern times" by 200 years ( but the reasons were the same.)
The popular pistols carried concealed were called by many names such as - Pocket pistols, Muff pistols ( yes females CC'd), factors pistols etc.
They varied greatly depending on the period etc. ( Flinters, cappers, single shot, multi shot, breech loaders, Muzzle loaders, et al )

As a "part" of your persona, Do you "pack one" ?? If so, What & Why


I, in my HBC persona, pack one.
It is a "capper" made by a man from miscellaneous parts. .36 cal , well made. I carry as a "factor's pistol". {pic #3} Do I carry = yep, but seldom seen. Have I "used" yep, but only a few times in "derringer" shoots, for giggles.    BTW, it was the 2nd pistol I owned )
A Very,Very popular type was "screw bbl." (HBC actually issued them to clerks & above)

No Need for a class or test here, Washington is an open carry state, if you want to conceal, go to your local pd or sherrifs office, fill out a form, they do a background and usually with 14 to 21 days you go pick up your CCP and it's good for 4 years, the renewal is even faster!

Man, that's a lot simpler than here in LaLaLand.  Set's see, first and foremost, you have to pay a fee, I think it is $190.00.  Along with that is an application one must fill out, including reason for carrying concealed.  Then you have to attend a class and if I am not mistaken, there is both a written test and a shooting test to pass the class.  If you pass both of those tests, then you are issued the CCP.  Oh, one last thing.  You are authorized to carry only two pistols, and they are listed on the permit.  Ain't it great?
