My wife said ok - Dixie Gun Works shipped - Santa's "Brown Elf" delivered!
Someone is getting a Pedersoli Trade Gun for Christmas! Can't wait till Christmas day to open the box.
What do I do now? I ordered some over powder, over shot, cushion wads and some flints. 
All I have is fff Goex (about 4 lbs or so). Don't want to order more till use some of that up.
Still need some shot (6, 4, and maybe 7 1/2). What else should I get?

FOLLOW UP
Well Santa came through and I got my 20ga/62cal Pendersoli for Christmas. I got all the wads, patches, etc. but still have few questions. 
What round ball size (.610?) to start with?
What Turkey load (oz of shot and grains of powder). I have fff and #5 magnum lead shot on hand.
Can I use my regular powder measure (set say for 70 gr. fff) and use same setting on it for the shot?
Should I up from 70 to 80 grains on powder measure for the shot?  (“Less powder more lead shoots further kills dead”)

I just took the "came with gun" flint off and measured it and its 1 1/8 x 1 1/8 and seems to be right size (widest part of frizzen 1 1/8
and at half cock the cock is just touching frizzen  so will stick with that.

congrats!  no need for any other powder, 3f is all i use for all trad muzzleloaders, down the tube and in the pan. 

you got the shot covered, but you'll need some patching and balls, too!

So, should we assume you have all the little stuff like a powder measure, short starter, screwdriver for the various screws, etc?  If not, there is a pretty good place to start.  How about a pouch of some sort to carry all the stuff in?  For smoothbore shooting, I do like to have a shot snake to carry and dispense shot with.  Else a shot flask.  Personally, I prefer an Irish shot head on those, but many prefer the English style.  Or a shot pouch and measure.  Then there are the various ram rod tools.  The list goes on and fills up the Dixie Gun Works catalog.  Outfitting the firearm is where the most fun is, I think.
Speaking of screwdrivers (turnscrews) Pedersoli (at least used to) make screws with very fine slots where a normal screwdriver will not fit.  Check it out before you go buying one.
Have a ball with this.  Looking forward to your range reports.

John's Wife - So, what do you want for your birthday this year?

John - Well, I was down at the gun shop buying some ammo, and I saw this really neat little rifle.  It's called a Renegade, and I think it would be a lot of fun to have one.

John's Wife - OK, we'll see.

And thus began a life long fascination with muzzleloading firearms, which evolved into a business manufacturing m/l guns and accessories and then distributing other maker's items and then importing them as well.  I would say that over the years, that $150 rifle wound up costing us literally millions of dollars in raw material, inventory, wages, etc.  Of course, the investment of all that prompted sales that more than covered the costs and supported us for over twenty years, plus paid for travel across the country every year.  It's been a great life, taking turns that I never would have imagined.  So yes, buy that gun and get involved.  It's a hoot.
