750 Yard .50 Cal Sidelock (RICE Barrels, 1:24 Twist)
« on: January 31, 2021, 06:04:45 AM »
I haven’t been on here in a long time guy’s, I wanted to stop in and share my .50 Cal Long Range Shoot from Yesterday, And thank Rob for the Patching Paper he sent me to try, My Rifle loves it  :bl th up  The Target was Ranged at 760 Yards with my Leica 1600 Rangefinder

I chose to use my Custom BACO 615 Grain Paper Patch Bullet for this outing, I have a 610 Grain Grease Groove Bullet for this Rifle that Shoots every bit as good, I just didn’t have any Cast up. The paper i used is Paper Mill Store 9# onion Skin (wood pulp I believe?) it is thin Stuff, This was given to me by Rob (rfd) It’s darn good Patching Paper! Thank you Rob  :bl th up

Great shooting, Lewis... Looking forward to some 1000 yard results if you have that in your plans. I hope so...  :hairy

Ditto what the other two folks said...BTW...I’m jealous that someone can see a target that far away  :toast

VERY impressive!  And to paraphrase what Al said, I wish I could see that far!

Awesome shooting.  I will echo what others have said "I wish I could see 750 yards".

Excellent shooting..... :yessir: Going to have to make a new set up so I can get out and do the same... Do you feel 24"x24" x 3/8" will suffice?

I would sure think that 3/8" steel would be plenty thick for a .50 cal or a .54 at 750 yards.  You would ding the paint, but hardly dimple the target.
I know one thing you would do, and that is have a lot of fun shooting at it.
Enjoy !!!

Only if you can see a 2 foot square at 750 yards!  :laffing  Paint it fluorescent orange so it is visible at any rate!

LOL....Yes I see well long distance albeit I have contacts. My question to you is how well does your 20" steel show up in your Soule sights. The 24" is a little bigger than a 10 ring.

I used to have a 48" and a 36" plate to fit between my wheel wells. I also put a strike indicator on them as I am technically deaf but for some reason I can hear the strikes if people keep their yap shut and don't make noise.

I had given some thought to a full 72" steel target in three 24" panels but not sure how well it would work setting up and all.

Not ME!  I wish I could afford a Soule sight.  'Course then I would have to afford a new, faster twist barrel so I could shoot l-o-n-g bullets....  :laffing :laffing :laffing
