Well, since you asked!

US Navy, 1962 - 1965 Sonarman E-4
Alaska National Guard, 1983 - 1985 Watercraft Operator E-5
Oregon N.G. 1987 - 1992 E-5 Artillery Surveyor
Alaska N.G. 1992 - 1997 Watercraft operator, E-5  Then they took our boats away, the full timers managed to lose ALL my time, twice (the first time I sent them my LESs and they were able to get it back on the books; the second time I quit...).

Mixed feelings on chopper rides. Depended a whole lot on which direction they were going ::)

Only been on a helicopter one time, and that was enough for me.
Did the tourist thing in New Zealand several years back and one of the activities was to ride a helicopter up the face of a glacier, then land on the top of it and get out and enjoy the outlook.  I would have felt a lot better if the pilot would have put a little more distance between us and the glacier face.  Man, he went close!!!
