Well sounds like you definitely have skills, good luck and hoping you're on your feet again soon. No more kicking rocks

Kicking rocks just makes holes in your moccasins and hurts your toes.  There should be openings for diesel mechanics, although it may require you to relocate .  Or find another vocation in something that is fun for you.  With everything going to computer guidance that may be harder to do these days, but check the community college and see if there is a program which will help you.  I've been in that position myself a couple of times, and if i could get out of it, you most certainly can.

Will be holding you up in prayer!

I've been a sheet metal worker journeyman (actually a pipefitter/Diesel mechanic) for BNSF railroad. Corporate greed, evil stockholders and a crappy economy.. they're stripping the company to bones for profit.

So sorry to hear of yer plight, Joe.  You appear to have in-demand craft skills and there is no question that solid blue collar workers are in much need (and demand) in the USA.

Prayers sent for you and yours, and that you will quickly hook up new and good employment.     :*:

I guess I'll be finding a new career. Walked into work yesterday and they said 75% of your craft is no longer needed..no options no craft transfer..so 13+ years and I'm kicking rocks. Was a weird feeling waking up today and not heading to work. Send up a little  prayer if ya will. New territory for me esp with 3 littles at home.

Well now that sux!, keep a positive vibe about ya, the good lord will provide!

Back from the trip to Oregon last Thursday, had a great time, no vehicle or trailer problems, toured the Tillamook creamery and the Blue Heron creamery both were interesting, some good food at both and brought home entirely way too many cheeses! If you ever get a chance to drive down US 101 it's worth the time to get off the interstate and drive to old 2 lane, some fantastic views and small towns, it was good to see a lot logging trucks rolling down the roads with some real timber instead of pecker poles, drove down and over the Columbia via the Astoria bridge, came home via Rainier Oregon over the river to Longview WA, it was good to see 4 mills on the river stacked with wood and running full bore! so now it's time to clean up the trailer, re stock and get ready to head north to the top of the Olympic peninsula in 3 weeks for a 2 week stay at the Peninsula Longrifles property and rondy, always a grand time and visit with old friends who hopefully are still on this side of the grass!

Finally getting around to finishing up this generic .45 percussion gun I've had for 3 yrs
 [ Invalid Attachment ]
Had to order a new sear for it. Russ hamm lock , not sure why this was buggered up this way by the previous owner but it needs replacing.
Also made a new handle for my 1880s hatchet.

 Thats it for now .
