Mike Adcock .62 Cal ‘Bear Rifle’
« on: December 04, 2024, 03:17:36 PM »
Not usually a percussion guy, but this Mike Adcock .62 cal ‘Bear Rifle’ was too good to pass up. I needed another firearm like I need a hole in the head, but .62 cal percussion rifles aren’t exactly falling from the sky—and Adcock’s reputation speaks for itself. Bonus finds: a bison powder horn and a gourd canteen to round out the haul. Discovered at one of those antique malls with vendor consignments.

I hear ya’! When I first joined the Coeur d’Alene Muzzleloaders, I was warned it was only a matter of time before I’d get the flintlock bug, and that I’d likely never look back; however, I’ve got a stockpile of percussion caps, and I just couldn’t let them go to waste, you know?

I suppose you could say I had an ulterior motive. The barrel’s inscribed with the moniker ‘Mule Skinner’. Seemed like a good time to upgrade from my old rendezvous name, ‘Little Balls.’ A man’s gotta grow, right?

Guys! It's not the ignition, it's the POWDER!! Caplock, Flintlock, Matchlock, if you stuff powder down the front, it's for me!!

And when you have this, along with 30 mph winds, it's no fun shooting any of them. But all jokes aside Eric, I do like the looks of that gun. [ Invalid Attachment ]

Most important to me is that the barrel is the "cartridge" and that's what separates muzzleloaders from, well, you know, those "other" kinda guns.  ;)
