Customized Renegade

I think it was Kevin (KDUBS) that asked me to show a picture of my full stock Renegade.  Just stumbled on this picture while going through my photo's.  Brad Emig reworked the lock for me and a friend did the stock.  I have two GM .62 barrels for it.  One rifled and one smooth. She shoots pretty darn good.

How long is the barrel on that?  I will echo No Powder in saying that's about the prettiest Renegade I have ever seen as well.

My first black powder rifle was a Renegade.  In various times, I changed the barrel to a Douglas XX but stayed with .54 cal.
I also put a Hawken shop Hawken trigger guard and rear sight on it and made a curved butt plate for it as well.  The barrel was 36" long.  It was sure a good shooter.  I used to sit it alongside another guy's Renegade and tell him this is what his rifle will look like when it grows up.

I updated a Renegade for a customer one time with a slow twist 32" .62 barrel.  At 150 grains of Ffg powder, it was kinda brutal to shoot.  It sure pounded the cheek bone.  Felt like you had been in a boxing match after 10 shots.
Your stock looks like a lot better design than T/C did.

 Real nice shootin iron there.
 .62 huh, that's a chunk of lead.
Our club targets take a beating when some of use show up with our 20 ga.

Years ago, Kevin, the CdA Muzzleloaders enacted a rule that limited shooters to .58 caliber.
It kinda irked me, as I really enjoyed shooting my .62, but rules be rules, so I always shot their shoots with my .54.
Ironically, the only one of their silhouettes that I ever broke was a rabbit

- wait for it -

with that .54 loaded with 85 grains of Ffg.

If you are shooting 20 ga smoothies, me thinks that rule has been long forgotten.  I would guess it was voted on in 2006 or maybe 2007.  It might be good to ask about it and see if anyone remembers that, beside me.

I think the idea behind it was when John M brought out one of his big bore rifles and was shooting at the silhouettes with max charges.  The rangemaster was not pleased with that.
I remember I brought out my 8 bore double one time and let someone shoot it at the bears.  He hit one and it didn't just tip it over, it knocked that darn thing nearly across the ditch in back of the target line.  Them big old guns can sure hit hard.  I don't believe it damaged the bear but it did put a noticeable dent in it.
I had a chunk of diamond plate that I used to shoot at a bit.  The 12 bore would just punch a hole right through it at 50 yards.
