Goex Clear Shot

Has anyone else tried this?  I got a pound and took it out to the range.  The feller I got it from told me it was kinda meant for flintlocks.  So I loaded the flinter up like usual and set it off and there was a noticable delay.  So I did it again and the same thing happened.  Had my horn there and tried it with regular old FFg and no real noticable delay.  So I took it home and put in the powder box and there it sits.  It seemed to foul a little more too.  Damp patch brought out much more residue than usual, even in the caplocks.  We were not real fond of it.

Any other opinions out there?

That's a new one.
My understanding is Clear Shot was one of the sugar based powders similiar to APP and would have had the same problems in flintlocks that APP does.  I don't know of any substitutes that have been meant for flinters.

I sure wouldn't clutter up my shooting box, garage or house lot with that stuff.  Give it to someone you don't like.

Thought about donating it to the cannon crew.  They mix it with the big stuff and use it that way.

I bought a can of it once, got worse results than what you are saying. the best thing about that stuff is the can. I dumped mine out on the ground and tossed a match, still got a delay. That stuff is crap and that is an insult to crap.

So......you're hinting that it would have to be improved quite a bit to get up to the quality and utility of.....crap?  'Zat watch'er tryin' to say?

OK I learned my lesson....

What I've done is "borrow" a charge or two at the range and at shoots.   That way I can try some of these fakey shakey powders without going into debt for a can of each of 'em.

So far the very best thing I've found to shoot in my Muzzleloaders is...........Wait for it.............Wait for it..................It's coming.......................Black Powder !!!!   In my guns, Goex 3F.

Imagine that!

Ya'lls mileage might could vary a little bit.

What would you think of trying a small amt of B.P. at the
bottom of the main charge and then "topping it up" with
the imatation"stuff"?

Aye, so the old saying is ammended to read:

"If it's na scotch or black powder, it's crrrrrap!"

I finally gave away the last of 5lb of Pyrodex P I ill-advisedly bought in my Ruger Old Army phase. Never again.
