trg,
Yes, it is so.  I saw the gun in question, lo these many years ago.

I guess they did not want to repair the mistake, because it would have cost them a barrel.  And 20 some years later, we are still sitting around discussing their "P" poor customer service.  Man, that's a plant that bears bitter fruit.

Keith, I forget, whatever happened to that Grand Rifle?  Seems I recall Jay had it for a while afterwards or am I wrong on that.

Brent Gurtek of French River Muzzleloaders does some mighty fine patchbox work. I would not hesitate to give him a call, even if the JJ Henry is not his "usual" build.

Brent is a TMA member as well. Let me know if you need his contact info.

The misspelled name came from back when Jack Garner ran TVM(uzzleloading)?  He is at the other TVM last I heard.  I'd suspect things have changed at the original from those days.

Yes, Jay got that gun - and he had it up until close to his death - I saw it hanging in his "gun vault"  a few weeks/months before he died - so somewhere out there is a left handed  silver mounted Lancaster Style 54 caliber, Grand Rifle with the engraved name K Hickman on it.

Did you ever get that JJ Henry rifle ??  If you still need one,  Drop me a line & some pic's.  I've been making long guns since 1977, tho never a Henry I really don't know much about trade rifles, but have made quite a few similar guns, if I can see some good pic's I could most likely put one out.  Tom Knight,  rebar43@gmail.com

Update

Here is my JJ Henry built by JP Gunstocks - it is an English pattern type and I won in on an on line auction - one of the most accurate rifles I have owned in flinlock.  Perhaps, still in negoations I may make it to NM yet and kill some elk.  I made an arrangement with a client of mine to shoot (high fence hunt) a red deer hind (doe/cow) and will use my JJ Henry I think.
