Large Siler spark test.

Was sitting around wondering how I could check my Siler for sparks, if they showered into the pan OK, how well did it spark etc.
So I set up my camera in my darkened gun room and came up with the following pics  
The first pic is just for reference.

Locks spark better when mounted to the starboard side!:shock:

Ness, I wouldn't know where to begin on how to judge that lock, but from the picture I would say you've got sparks aplenty....certainly a nice picture.

Somewhere here on the forum, a year or so back, the guys posted a nice U-Tube sequence of ignition "timing" from a flinter and it was quite impressive too.

Perhaps whoever posted that could post it again. I think you would like that if you could see it.....

Russ it possibly was Larry Pletcher that posted the haigh speed video in slow motion.
Larry also has some outstanding pics of flinter sparking.
Melsdad, It was just pure dumb luck ? I positioned myself between the lock and thew camera, selected auto exposure, pulled the trigger and the shutter at the same time, I'm guessing the exposure was about 1 1/2'' ?

Thais pic I shot with a flash, to compare what you see normally.
