3 hawks - animal lard or vegetable lard?
I have used both and they work. I find that animal lard seems to run smoother but will create are hard coating (creosote?) in the barrel making it harder to clean when you are done.
Crisco works and seems to be easy to clean behind, but will build up fouling after not too many shots.

I've used Crisco for the last several times out shooting , and it seems to work as well as BB or CVA spit patch. I'm not about to pay $10.00 to $13.00 a tube for a patch lube that dosn't do any better !

I have a .36 pedersoli and it gets pretty tight after a few shots .I load and fire about three shots then load and run a brush down to the load then it's good for about 3-4 shots.I Imagine a .32 would be even worse -they are fairly small holes considering blackpowder foulingg.spit on a patch evry shot helps so I carry a couple in my mouth.

I use spit on the patches, and cut them at the muzzle, and after the third shot I take the residual piece of ticking that I used for the patches, still damp from the spit, cut off the part where the three patches were cut, and use that to swab, and continue on. No worries.

Just go to moose milk for shooting. You can use Dutch Shultz' system for dry lubed patches for hunting, and not foul your bore like that.
