Made this pistol bag for a friend
« on: August 05, 2019, 07:43:06 AM »
Over the weekend I finished this pistol bag for a friend of mine. He had approached me last February about making him something to carry his hogleg in while hunting. He gave me some deer hide he had tanned which I was able to use some of as the fringe. The body of this bag is made from 2 ounce vegetable tanned cowhide to give the bag some strength and rigidity. I then covered it with 4 ounce elk hide to pretty it up some. The dark brown trim and lace is deer hide. I carved the buttons out of deer antler and sewed it all up by hand using artificial sinew. I sure hope he likes it!

Looks great Darren. He should get a lot of use from it.

I've always heard that the Navajo, when weaving their blankets, leave one flaw so as to not anger or mock the gods. I always look but can never find the flaw.

When Darren posts his makings here I can't help but look for a flaw, but, doggonit, I can never find one.   :bow

Beautiful work.  :hairy   As always!
The trouble with doing things right the first time is no one realizes how hard it was.
Often, however, the following is more applicable.
I stand corrected, a position somewhat painful to achieve, but once there, is quite satisfying.
