Rear sight

Trying to help pard who is building a flinter.

He has a rear sight that came with the kit. The sight is slightly angled in one direction and has a concave bevel on the obtuse side of the angle. (the indented portion is on the wide angle part)

From what we've seen in some research, most angled sights are installed with the sight leaning towards the shooter.

However on straight sights, the a beveled area usually faces the shooter as well.

So current plan for this sight is to place it angled towards the shooter, evn though the bevel will be on the side facing away from the shooter.

Does that make sense?

Bevel or hollow away,  is the proper set. This helps cut down on glare. The bevel across the top should slope slightly down below level away from the shooter for the same reason.

The hollow of the sight notch goes away from the shooter.  It cuts down on glare, as LRB said.
