AGREED!

Now, I plan to try rat traps on the local ones, in areas that prohibit use of firearms.  Squirrel is a very odd game animal in the PRoMd, it's forest game, not considered a furbearer, but suburbanites can consider them a pest and use traps to get them...., disposal isn't specified in the laws..., so eating does qualify as disposal.

Each late fall, I...er I mean "a friend of mine" would sit on his deck over looking the wooded flood plain of a back yard. He is in a suburban area, lots about 1 -1.5 acres and nicely wooded with white oaks. Using a light selfbow and arrows with blunts, he would cull the squirrel herd for winter in an effort to reduce the amount of bird seed (Mrs. is a birder) to purchase over the winter. Better than trapping in the park...He has taken 18-20 a year for the past 3 years with no apparent affect on the population.

David,
Yep,it is great for dinner in a number of ways.My personal
favorite is squirrel gravy over biscuits, eggs up or scrambled and
grits with butter and maple syrup for breakfast. It fuels the body for
a cold days hunt.

Aarrrggghhhh.  Parks.  Suburban, urban, tree rats.  I may have to start a local chapter of NURDS!  Northeast Urban Rat Disposal & Sorties in order to keep a regular suppy of the tasty morsels.

Gary, would that be an offshoot of the organization with nearly the same name that's in Tennessee? :happy
