Tomorrow in the daylight I'll try to take/post some pictures of the walnut stock I used.

Including multiple photos in a post is not very easy for me to figure out so here is one of the TC Hawken I replaced the stock (walnut from Pecatonica) and barrel (Green Mountain).  The others can be seen in the Firearms Gallery.

and...the work is not nearly on par with the master gun makers on this forum, but it is an example of what a ordinary hack can do.

Looks very nice...the dulled down brass is a plus.

That's looking pretty good Sneakon. Is that stock a pre-carve or from a blank?

The replacement stock from Pecatonica is pre-carved and pre-inlayed.  However, there is still allot of fine detail finishing work necessary to fit the barrel and all the other pieces back together.  I managed to get everything in place enough so that the gun works fine, but a fine piece it is not.  The project gave me a real appreciation for the real gun makers in the world and a real appreciation for the pieces they make.

Nice looking work, I know what you mean about appreciating a real gun makers skill.  There are some true artist here at the TMA.   If you add the steel parts from the hawken shop, please post some more pic's and words of advice.  I've been looking to add the kit to my rifle and blacken the patchbox, but I'm kinda afraid it may be beyond my skill level.

Has anyone here customized a Thomson Center Hawken?

I'm thinking of getting a stock from Pecatonica for my TC flintlock and was hoping to see some photos of some guns that others have changed. So please share pictures, thoughts, etc...

Thanks!

Yep...

pathfinder actually made a point ,,I clarify it from my point of view,I have a renegade,I love it,but it is not hc  I was going the same route  and finally figured if I did all the changes I would end up with a bunch of parts that I would have had to build into another Renegade! So I kept the Renegade making do with some minor cosmetic changes and bought a Lyman for a more hc appearance and  a slower twist for patched ball which I tend to use more than the big conical s the renegade likes to throw. And I still kept my Renegade. I will get to a true custom someday.
Oh right now I have a tiger stripe maple stock I'm insetting for the Lyman, which I have not even shot yet! Which means I will have a walnut stock that will need a barrel...... And a lock...and....
See how it goes?
I go forth armed and girded as a free man.
