Western Trade rifle
« on: July 21, 2014, 08:46:03 PM »
One of the last made by Mike Lange, this is a .50 with a Chambers lock, 1:56 twist rate barrel, no patch box, just plain and simple like they were.  This is an approximation of the James Bown rifle that was marketed as both a Kentucky rifle and plains rifle; Texas Sporting Rifles

I plan on using this one for my early Texas persona.

Mike can do some fine work as your rifle proves.  I have one of his rifles, thank goodness, and am frustrated to no end that he stopped building full time and stopped taking orders.  You have a legacy and heirloom.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

I know Mike will continue to build his signature RugRat rifles and I have a suspicion that he will eventually start building custom rifles again, although it may take a few years for that to happen.  I feel bad, getting sick right after receiving this one and not getting to shoot it but I'm working on it.
