Shooting Boxes I build
« on: March 08, 2017, 01:26:37 AM »
Here is an example of a shooting box design that I build as a raffle prize at a rendezvous put on by my local club.

This box is made of Poplar and stained in walnut with the handle, legs stained in Cherry.
The center front of the box lid looked very different before it was stained.
The handle and legs are recessed and the legs are self deploying when the lid is opened providing support for the lid.

When the box is opened it looks like this.
The insert tray is made of figured Cherry.

When the box tray is removed placed in the lid for use/access to the inside of the box it looks like this.
The two compartments in the box are sized to hold one lb cans of BP each.

Thanks.  Wood has a mind of its own and frequently no matter what you want it to do it just won't. :Doh!

Beautiful work! I've tried working with wood and I must have found the most stubborn wood ever made, because I can NEVER get it to do what I want!

I would surely buy tickets for that raffle.
Good job, Michael.
