Two Flints and two flint knives
« on: April 05, 2017, 03:54:58 PM »
Hello,

Thought I would post how I came to have the alias, Two Flints, which is my username on this forum.  I was watching the movie, "Man in the Wilderness," and there was a scene where a mountain man took our his very large flint knife and used it to start a fire to cook his deer meat.  I decided that I wanted a similar kind of knife and found a knife maker who agreed to  make me a custom knife out of flint, and he used a Buffalo bone for the handle. I gave him the dimensions for the knife.  I liked the first one so much, I had a second one made.

Later, one of my friends saw the two flint knives, and said, Wow, two flints."  When I heard that comment, it became the alias for my persona and Mountain Man reenacting.

Here are the knives:

Very nice!
 :hairy
I've always wanted a nice flint knife. I had one for a short while, actually used it a couple times, but over the years it somehow just walked-off.

And.......The story of two-flints is a great story!

Thanks for sharing that with us.

Those are very nice, Two Flints!

I've only handled one flint knife that I recall, and that was one a friend of mine made. I was very impressed with it!

Welcome to the forum, Two Flints.  Those knives are attention getters; I'd bet they're "scalpel" sharp.
