Powder Horn History#7
« on: August 01, 2020, 01:23:45 AM »
Reposting old threads that were lost after the forum cleanup from broken threads or lost pics from photobucket, here's an early build from 10 or so years ago. Maybe some one can use it as a reference or  ideas for their own build! A simple Bison horn with a turn and rounded base plug, applied staples.

Nice powder horn!  :hairy
Buffler horns definitely have their own "look",.... and I like'em!  :hairy  :hairy

I've got a small buffalo priming horn (which I like a'lot) and a large buffalo powder horn, but IMHO the powder horn is just to big at the base and base heavy with its Maple plug and brass refill plug in the center - so I use it to carry powder for refilling my other horns at Rendezvous... As I said, I really like my buffalo priming horn. :bl th up

The horn in the picture above almost looks like it too could be "base" heavy? Then again - it may not be.

Your right Joe, the base is a bit too big as far as size goes, as far as weight , the base was hollowed out like a bowl on my lathe, and it IS a large horn,

Bison Powder Horn - what's not to like?
As I have said before, when it comes to buffalo powder horns, the simpler - the better.
Nice, real nice.  Good job - again Jim.
