don't be embarrassed - we all start somewhere and usually end up evolving to more traditional items

I recommend the Mink Oil. I particularly like it in the coldest weather - which should suit you fine in MN

No need to melt. The heat from your hands as you prelub softens it nicely. Little fouling to worry about.

My head hurts just reading all of this. I have been using pre-lubed patches like my brother uses. I guess you can't go wrong with what your brother does, huh? I also have some pillow ticking I got at a fabric store and will probably experiment with it and spit the next time I get around to shooting; which may be this weekend at Eaton!
