CVA sxs 12 guage

Any opinions on the cva sxs 12 guage?
Worth of a good one?

They aren’t to bad .
 CVA made 2 different models .  What they called the a high grade and a field grade .
 The high grade had  engraving on the locks TG tang and such . Field grade did not .
 Both models were in a since   . Just one had  a impression type cast engraving and the other didn’t .
 Both  had the same problems that the  plagued the cva rifles , weak main springs and soft lock plates and to much wood .
 I have had a couple that needed the bores reamed  desperately .
Also some had the nipples place on top of the barrels  in the breech plug and others had  drum bolsters like the CVA rifles did .
 The field grade was also offered in kit form .
 Over all good shooters
As to worth ?
 That all depends  the field grade ??/ probably 2-300 in very good shape .
 The high grade .  Maybe  4 in top shape . Though I have seen them listed on G un broker and auction arms for  7-900  which IMO is  a lot more then they are worth .

Second what Captchee said.  My brother and I both have one. First b/p shotgun, really only shoot it a couple of times a year.  We have both had issues with locks. I found cva replacment ones, he is putting in L&R locks.

If you can save your money. I would recommned a navy arms or pedorseli (? spelling). I just got my dads navy arms shotgun and will probably use it more.

I have one I put together from a kit in 1985 shoots pretty good but the left lock is a lot weaker than the right. I've killed dove, and rabbit with shot and deer with a .690 prb each deer with the second shot Go figure
