Hey I need an inexpensive (I'm unemployed) source for forged buckles or some really cool lookalikes...

Hey RB, buckles aren't too hard to forge /make.  I have heated round stock, bent in a circle, in my coal furnace. I leave the ash door open and the stock gets red hot and easily hammered flat. The crossbar is then welded in and the catch bent around it. I toss the reheated buckle (red hot) into a bucket of sawdust and cover it. Gives the buckle a case hardened look. I don't know a source for ready made, but there are smiths aplenty on this forum that can probably help you out if ya don't want to make yer own. Regards GH.
