How to use aquafortis
« on: December 06, 2010, 11:52:24 AM »
I was wondering if someone could give me tips on the proper way to use aquafortis. Is this the best way to show the curl in curly maple? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Howdy Hood!  Aquafortis is  easy to use.  After sanding your stock (DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL!) apply aquafortis with a cotton cloth or cotton ball.  Use a heat gun (or hair dryer) to activate the aquafortis.  Don't scorch the wood however.   You can apply more aquafortis and repeat the process to get a darker color.  You can also check Track of the Wolf.  I believe that they have a downloadable instruction sheet for using aquafortis.
