found these in a field  hunting arrow heads  what are they

What are they made from?  Looks like they could be from the cheek straps of a horse/mule bridle...

From the size of them, I'd say you're on the right track, harness buttons/buckles.

Whatever they turn out to be, they're a cool find!

Not the best image but here are two on an 1880's era cavalry harness headstall....



The usual spot they are place is the upper one - one on each side. The one on the blinder is less common.

You found 2 of them, I would imagine the rest of the bridle is there somewhere.
  Might be buckles and bit around.  you should go back.  8)
