Pedersoli Kentucky Flintlock
« on: January 14, 2011, 08:54:59 AM »
I have been shooting caplocks for a few years now and the call of a Flinter has always been there.  So I have been doing some looking around and found a Pedersoli Kentucky rifle used for a decent price.  My question is are these decent guns for a beginner?

My other dilemma is we are only 2 months away from the Kalamazoo show and wondering if I should wait and look there before dropping the ball on this one?

My other hang up is I found this one on the internet so I cannot see it.  It is listed in very good + condition and the pictures look very clean but I am a little hesitant because I cannot hold it and see how she feels in my hands.

Any opinions or words of advise are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Well I have one that I bought from Cabelas a few years ago that was my first bp rifle and I love mine. Very accurate and very easily fired and maintained.  So I can attest to the fact that they are pretty nice firearms.

As to the auction item, I have good success with items I got on-line. But be careful. My advice is to wait for the gunshow and hold a rifle and inspect it personally before purchasing.

But that advice and a couple bucks can get you a cup of coffee...

Tim, good advise here from Bull. I too like to hold, feel, look over and inspect a firearm before I purchase it, but that's just me, and Bull too!

As to the the rifle in question, I have no experience with them, but have heard others saying they like thiers. But like you say, K-Zoo is just around the corner, which makes your decision hard. The one good thing about it, is if you can get it for a good price, you should be able to sell it for what you paid if something else comes along.

Also Tim, make sure you stop by our TMA booth. We'll be set up in the Hazel Gray building towards the back by the food. Hope to see you there Buddy!  :shake

Pedersoli, IMHO, makes very good firearms. ( I own several  - 3 cappers ( 2 rifles & 1 pistol ) & 3 flinters ( 1 Rifle/shotgun & 2 pistols )

As to opting for a Pedersoli flinter is good choice, if the $$ makes sense in your budget & the gun is in good condition.

As to getting 1 on ebay = your call.

I'd say go ahead and get it.  If you like it, great.  If not, take it to Kzoo and sell it there and get something you prefer.
Sounds like a win - win to me.
