I don`t own a 58 Remington type revolver, but have shot several different examples. That said, I like my Colt 1860 Army type alot better. The Colt just feels way better in my hand and naturally wants to point where I`m looking. The Remington feels awkward and clumsy in comparison. Lots of folks love the closed frame remingtons though, so it`s obviously a personal thing. You might want to handle both types befor you decide?

No, no, no....IMHO, a little age on a post can be a good thing.

Quite often threads are dug out of the archives, by those with a similar interest, dusted off, and brought back to life.
There's nothing in the world wrong with that!

At one time you could go back several years, find something that caught your interest, read 'till your heart is content, make your own remarks and leave it to the next guy.....those days have been replaced by modern house keeping practices that don't allow such practices....something to do with band width, storage capacity, those dreaded pixels,  and other such terms that quite often elude me.

Very similar principal to that of tossing out an old book because it was "old".

im with you rivercat .  never much cared for top strap revolvers .
 i do like the 1860  and i have owned a few 1851'a as well

I like my 8" barrel 1858 Remington so much I bought another one yesterday with a 5 1/2" barrel.  :hey-hey  

Anybody shoot conicals in their's, what's accuracy like? (I'm thinking about ordering a conical mold)
