SSE's link to the Ray Mears show on Mountain Men got me looking at what else he has done and I found a show on the HBC and its link to the creation of Canada.  It includes some reenactors that actually seem to know what they are doing.  It also has a good deal of real information on the HBC and its operation as well as the NW Co.

Okay, it is official. If I can't be Ron "Longhunter" LaClair, I want to be Ray Mears.... How does one get a gig like that anyway?
