"Robert Crockett Longhunter Day" 2015

We will once again be celebrating a piece of local history concerning the ambush death of long Hunter Robert Crockett on April 18th 2015. We will be putting in our third annuAl encampment with music, hawk throwing, women's skillet throw and other great contest.
Livingston tennessee is the place to be if you are a Longhunter or native reenactor. You are invited to come sit by the fire. I have a big buffalo roast I am saving for a campfire stew!

Seems like I hear about a celebration over here in Crockett TX  that shifts every other year between here and TN.

The event (reunion) in Texas is put on by the DDDC, or Direct Descendants of David Crockett.  It is held in Texas one year and Tennessee the next.  The location of the event changes every year. I don't remember it ever being in Crockett, Texas.  I met my beautiful wife at the reunion in Nagcodoches, Texas many years ago.  I know the old line, "I met my wife at a family reunion".  Well, I really did!  She thought I was wealthy (I'm not) and I thought she was beautiful (she is!) and we lived happily ever after!  Real life fairy tale.

Anyway, the Crockett family o-fficially adopted me and I am now a proud son of the "King of the Wild Frontier"! EeeHaw!  

And that's the rest of the story!

Back to my Robert Crockett thread...... We lost a beloved member of our Longhunter group this year in Captain Titus. If you ever attended Martin Station events, Titus was captain of the militia. He lived in our hometown of Livingston Tennessee. From the time I organized our group he would come to the meetings and he was always an encourager in what we were trying to do. At this years event, our third annual "Robert Crockett Long Hunter Day, we will have a memorial for the good Captain. If you knew him and called him friend, you are invited to come take part. Bring your rifle and shoot off a round in his memory. If you can't come, we invite you to shoot your rifle at ten Am on April 18th.
