I like that. I'm trying to build something similar out of 4x4 and deck planking
I have a son who shoots south paw so I have to make it ambidextrous
thanks for the idea

Nice!  :lt th
I sometimes use an old folding leg table I made years ago, but for the past few years our local range has nice double-sided tables that only require a towel or old blanket thrown over them to protect the gun.

I go a lot simpler, a fold up sawhorse and a few sandbags.

I don't use a rear bag; I shoot off the shoulder. :USA

Cool
Pleasure is the feel of a fine handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a still frosty morning

One of the things I've noticed about some people shooting from a bench is that the rifle is put on the bench but the shooter's body is 'backed off' away from the bench; sort of hanging in the air! IMO that is not the way to being most stable! I move my chest up against the rear of the bench, I have both arms down on the bench resting on a shooting mat so I don't rub the skin off my elbows and my forward hand grasps the forearm while resting atop a rolled up shooting mat! I don't like the commercial type rest! In this manner for load testing the shooting platform is akin to shooting the rifle in a vise!!

This is not an unusual group I get using this method shooting the 50 Hawken flinter at 100 yards:
