Chuck Burrows has passed
« on: May 02, 2016, 08:45:28 PM »
I just read on another forum that Chuck Burrows has died. I always enjoyed his posts and his knowledge as I'm sure a lot of folks did.
Although Chuck wasn't a member of the TMA, he did contribute a lot of useful information and was a true artist in his field.

He will be missed!

Bummer.
This has been a pretty bad last few weeks for losing people.
A couple of weeks ago, lost a good friend from high school.  Was the drummer in our little dance band, so we spent a lot of time together going to gigs, practice, etc.
Plus whoever else might have gone away.  Bad time.
RIP all.

Truly a great loss.  He was a great artist instilling factual realism into all his work.  RIP Chuck, your work will live on for many generations.

Wow. As a leather worker he was one of my artistic heroes. Truly an amazing talent and depth of knowledge unmatched. He will be missed.

RIP Chuck! Always loved to look at the pics of the knife sheaths he produced especially the ones using rawhide.

The guy was just incredible, and always very well-mannered in his internet discourse.  Sad news, indeed.

When I first met Chuck in the early 80's at a Bear River Rendezvous in Wyoming, I was pretty well blown away with his creative art and extensive knowledge of the Rocky Mountain fur-trade era. The first time I seen his tipi (at a bit of distance), I would have sworn it was made from braintan elk hides, instead of the artistic "smoked canvas" it really was.
He was a very interesting man to share a campfire with.

It would be good if the TMA could somehow send condolences to his family. His work was amazing and his knowledge of history equally amazing. God speed Chuck.

I agree that this is a good idea...though not a member, Chuck was very very helpful to anyone here who asked.  Another good man gone...
