Tree Planting & Muzzle Loading
« on: October 06, 2016, 08:56:36 AM »
This Saturday I'm taking my grandson over to Chadron State Park for a three hour tree planting outing with his Boy Scout "Wolf" Den 204... This will also give me a chance to talk with his troop leader about getting the boys out to shoot a traditional muzzle loader as he (their leader) had mentioned earlier in the year and haven't done as yet. Hopefully we can still set something up this year before the weather turns to bad. Have to plant those seeds early! :lt th

Riley, if memory serves, you were pretty big into helping mentor the Scout Troops, were you not?

Grandson Lucas and I took to the high ground this morning to plant trees with the cub scouts.  We had a good time. Always nice to get outdoors. It was a bit chilly but it didn't take long to warm up.

That's neat!
I love to see things like this happening. In today's world it's a breath of fresh air seeing kids doing all the right things.

Uncle Russ...

It's the many things we don't do that totally sets us apart.

The one thing I've always tried to make a point of doing in my life, (and as we all know it isn't always that easy or possible), is to be there for my kids and grand kids when they need me, and even when they don't and we just hang out.

Yesterday we planted trees, and today we hung out fishing, hiking, shooting the BB Gun, and throwing the tomahawk. We even found a little time to tinkered in the workshop, not really accomplishing anything but just doing little things like Lucas finding out what we use different wood files for, (even though I've shown him this before.  I sure do enjoy spending time with my kids and grand kids, and of course my wife also.  :rt th
