Ode to the 8 Bore

Greg Holmes - I didn't want to hijack your thread, so I decided to start a new one.  Here is a little ditty that I wrote I think in 1999.  We were going to display at the SHOT Show, and for some reason, I thought the 8 bore double rifle that we had on the table needed a little something extra to go with it.  Interestingly enough, there was a fellow walking through the exhibits that wrote for the Wall Street Journal and he thought this novel enough to include in the article that he was writing on the SHOT Show.

And so it was,
That on the first minute of the first day of the last year of the Twentieth Century
The Earth Shook
The Heavens Roared
There was a blinding flash of light.
Timid men quivered
The noble beasts of the land ran and hid
And a dark cloud of sulfurous smoke enveloped the area.
Eight Bore
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest Up to God.
