Eclipse Day
« on: August 21, 2017, 08:25:17 AM »
Well, they say somewhere before noon we'll have an eclipse here where I live (we're kind'a right in the path of it), and so far I haven't noticed any goofiness going on, but it's still early... Anyway, there are lots of people in the area to watch this event. 50 miles south of me down in Alliance, NE they are expecting a huge crowd.

So,,, one prediction is that ol' Yellow Stone will erupt....hmmm.... I believe this comes from those "end of the world groups" as I've not seen any factual proof of this from a reliable source (whoever that may be?), but if it does happen I guess I won't be on our TMA Forum tonight after work (can't out run a Yellow Stone mega eruption), but if it doesn't happen, I'll be here.

You all have a good day, mine ought to be interesting - one way or the other...  :bl th up

I think people are naturally crazy today. They're predicting huge traffic jams along the path. Really?
I remember seeing the last one. I don't remember the date but I remember I was mowing the yard. I made a pinhole viewer and watched it on the hood of my tractor. :/

The crazies here get to howl at the Moon right about 9:15 am....

I'm seeing some crazy, crazy stuff on TV.
$1400 Motel Rooms...
$550 RV Parking...
30,000 RV's parked in some Corn Field in Oregon, which is 120 miles south of me.
Solar Glasses that sold for $1,00 now asking $50.00 a set.

We are 150 miles (-/+) from the epi center of this event as it starts on the Oregon Coast, we can't see nothing yet although it is starting to be a very nice morning, and much cooler than what we have been experiencing...the Science Center TV tells us Temperatures can drop as much as 20 / 30 degrees at the epi center, and to me that would be a welcome thing and well worth Howling about.

Well I saw it at lunch time with my wife. Took a picture of her in the dark and she took one of me in the dark. So now I'm gonna head back to work shortly and she's headed off to sleep since she works 3rd shift.

Oh, and as a side note. It would appear everything is okay at Yellow Stone.... :laffing

I've been told this morning that up on our highway just outside of town there is a line of endless cars parked off on the side of the road. Just wait until everyone wants to get gas to go back home - then it's gonna get really nuts!  :o

I'm glad Yeller Stone survived the eclips,.... I hear now, there's some scientists that want to drill a hole in ol' Yeller and pump water into the magma to cool it down 'fore she blows.
I reckon they ain't never seen what happens when a drop of sweat hits a 20 lb. pot of molten lead.  :o :Doh!

Pretty much a big nothing here. We only had 85% and if you didn't look at the sun with some kind of protection, you wouldn't even know it occurred. I just used my welding hood. Neat, but no big deal.

Rondo, My thoughts on that water & lead business to a "T"!
Not only that, But I can prove it to anyone that would care see it happen.

As has been said Yup! the Eclipse was the nearest thing to nothing I have ever personally witnessed.

On the other hand, I feel quite sure a tremendous amount of information was gathered during this particular Eclipse, and "scientifically" I'm quite sure we are decades, if not millenniums ahead of what we knew about all this Eclipse business, as late as just yesterday.
This particular Eclipse, in theory, could provide the answer to all this Climate Change 'stuff' that has plagued all of us for years now, or so they say on TV, and I personally find that a very good thing.

Ol' Yeller, now that's a Coon of a whole 'nother circumstance!
If that girl turns loose, it's going to be hard times all over this planet.
Everybody on earth is going to know it when that ol' girl looses her cool.
