Hi, newbie here. I started shooting muzzleloaders about three years ago, love it!
I currently have a 36 cal percussion cap rifle made in late 1800's and a 45 cal PA flintlock longrifle made in
1970's (not by me).

I'm refinishing the flintlock stock. It's a nice piece of tiger maple but the builder didn't put a nice finish on it to do the
wood justice. I've already stripped the varnish and want to remove the stain. Any suggestions for stain removal would
be appreciated. thanks!

I can't say as though I've ever tried removing stain on a gunstock,.... but I have re-stained several stocks (after first removing the finish), and went darker with a darker stain.

I think I would sand it down and get some wood off of it.  Looks a bit chunky to me.   That girl need to go on a diet.  Lock panels are pretty thick...just my two cents.   :bigsmile: :hairy

Ha! Yeah I was planning to do a little reshaping, especially on the cheek rest. Also thinking of adding
some brass inlet stars on the fore end.
