An old sayin from El Paso and surrounds.
"All Hat and no Cattle".
When referring to someone bragging.

Uncle Russ...

Uncle Russ...
I have definitely heard thatone being a Texan...one like it is "it ain't bragging if you can actually do it..."

Anothe Texas favorite of mine is the admonition to "never ask a man where he's from. If he's from Texas he will tell you...and if he's not there's no need to embarrass him."   :lol sign

That is one I have heard a lot, Bull.

Don't mean to turn this into a Texas sayings thread, BUT... :Doh!

One that I use a lot is: "Anyone can be an American...but ya got to be born a Texan.

"You don't  miss what you never had".

"If you strive for perfection,  you attain excellence,  and you will meet the standards,  which are bare minimum".
That one I heard in my PLDC (Primary leadership and development course) E5 school in the Army

"IF the dog wouldn't have stopped to take a crap, he'd have caught the rabbit".

When asked a simple "yes" question:  "Do fat babies fart?"

Is a Duck's butt watertight?

Is Willie Nelson Country?

And an Alaskan saying: "If the Texans don't shut up. we'll divide Alaska in two and make Texas the THIRD largest state...."  :laffing

Not brag, just fact!

Probably my all-time favorite saying...

Stupid hurts for a reason.

And...

Stupid people shouldn't breed.

Re stupid people:

They live among us. They are allowed to breed. They are encouraged to vote.

Heard this more than I care to admit... :Doh! and... as you correctly say, not brag just fact...however, once all the ice and snow are melted off you will have a state about the size of Rhode Island... :lol sign

With that said...anyone who would choose to live in Texas rather than Alaska would be (as my father used to say), "too dumb to pour piss out of a boot..."

I'd live in Alaska but I would have to go alone. My wife would NOT agree to that, and has told me so many times over the years.

heard that, David...but at least ya are smart enough to know what side your bread is buttered on, right?...

...I  am blessed with a wife that luvs Alaska as much as I do...and both of us agree that if we were even 10 years younger we would already be up there for the duration...but sadly, we both have enough common sense to know that boat has sailed...besides, we could never afford to rent enough mules to haul all our detritus that far... :lol sign
