:yessir: YAY!  We get the day off.... wait, I'm retired - they're all "days off"!   I think I'll go get a load of firewood, as there isn't a parade to view.  :laffing

Hope everyone has a great day, especially all the Veterans among us!  :hairy

Well, I won't say that military duty was a pleasure, but I am proud to have done it.

U S Army  1965 - 1968  62E30 Heavy Equipment Operator - E-5
Actually 62E30 refers to a Grader Operator.  I spent upwards of a day or so running a grader at my school, that was it.  But I knew how to start one and drive it up onto a flat bed trailer to transport it somewhere.  Which is actually what I did most of my time in the Army.  I drove tractor/trailer and transported equipment from place to place.  Also ran a bulldozer for a while and a scraper also.  That was in Thailand.  In the States, I trained ROTC kids, shot on the rifle team, and drove tractor/trailer and was in charge of the earth moving platoon tool room.  Probably not an "essential person." :luff:

A huge thanks of gratitude to all our current in-service military personnel, to all those vets who have served but are inactive, and to the millions of American vets who have served our nation and have passed on ... including personal homage to my dad and mom, who were both in the Army Air Corps during WW2, my uncles Mike and Bill who were WW2 Army vets fighting in the Pacific, France and Germany, and my uncle Felix, a B-17 ball turret gunner who's bomber was shot down into the English Channel after a run over France and was captured and incarcerated in Stalag 17 for nearly 3 years.

I salute you all.   :yessir:

SJFriend seez............ "And thank you to all who thank them."

Sorry I'm late, (Hospital duty with my bride)..... a big Happy Veterans Day to all our Vets.
I spent 23 years on Active Duty, Retired in 1982.

Things sure are different nowadays, Back in the 60's and early 70's nobody congratulated anyone, except amongst ourselves, for the wearing of that Uniform, and I for one welcome that change.
Seems it's been going on since Desert Storm and it was waaay overdue when it started happening!
I truly appreciate SJFriend saying what he said, "Thank you to all who thank them".
It is really good to hear those words! There is unity in that!
Thank you, Sir

It's the many things we don't do that totally sets us apart.
