You know I actually just watched this one 2 days ago, too bad he didn't take the time to do several vids as a tutorial, nice looking rifle gun.

Did anyone notice that he left the "Butt-plate" long at the bottom and didn't install a "Toe Plate" - I wonder why? My best guess is in case the buyer wants a patch box and he'll need that area for the Patch Box release...

Regardless, a beautiful piece of work for sure! I like those Ramrod thimbles, as well as everything else. Man has talent, no doubt about it!  :hairy

There is a patch box with a sliding release and yet the butt plate was left overhanging the stock and no toe plate.  Interesting.

The man is clearly a wood/metal artisan who can do it all if need be.  According to the video it's a commissioned gun build, so maybe it's what his customer wanted.  Just like how the trigger guard was blacksmithed from the head of the client's dad's hammer; a real metal artisan at work for sure.

Well, I can't find anything definitive in my, "The Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle" book on the reasoning for it, so I guess we'll just call it "builder's preference. I will admit it would bug the heck out of me not having the lines flow with the finished product.  :shake

I'll add that I don't consider "The Art of Building the Pennsylvania Longrifle" as the only source of information when it comes to building these ML's, but it's a handy source.
